i'm back!

hello to my tiny space over here! i'm finally back from taipei the cold cold place where i almost dropped my nose and fingers and toes!
i've had lotsa fun over there with those very cool soonae friends and yishiuan's very very very nice and friendly and warm relatives (:
i'm like missing the days over there already....and ofcos, the FOOD! haha i'll update a post here solely on the food i've tried over there and ya, PHOTOS! we took like 900photos at taipei and i think i'll die editing and uploading them onto facebook before updating them here! 900 seems like a lot but then again, not a lot since we were there for a long 13days! couldn't take as much photos as we wanted to since the weather is rainy on our second week there and i could only keep my dslr away from the rain.
anyway, taipei is a lot of fun and i would love to go back if i have the money!
shopping is ♥ but i keep feeling that i haven't shop enough over there yet!
food is ♥ x a million and the people there are ♥ x a billion!
the cooling weather we enjoyed over there is ♥ x a thousand BUT
the extreme weather change is ♥ x a negative billion.

ps: i wanna say a huge THANKYOU to yishiuan's family for the great hospitality!
i feel so happy for yishiuan to have such a warm big family of nice grandparents, parents, aunties, uncles and cousins.

ok back to me being back!
i barely have time to rest myself in my comfy bed that i missed soo much when i was away; and then i'm out to celebrate my 21st birthday.
had a nice buffet dinner with gary at Marina Mandarin Hotel's Aquamarine Restaurant. dinner was great since its my favourite- buffet! but i didn't eat as much as i usually would maybe because i miss home cooked food and soup! ah, soup: the pumpkin soup with bread crumbs they have there is really nice! haha and so i spent the first minute of my birthday with him.
and then i went out with siying and siping on my birthday where we shopped and splurged our day away since its our birthdays! haha i actually spent $123 in the short 2hours T_T where the best part is we actually planned to go to the botanical garden, which was why we said to meet at orchard first. and since its orchard, we shopped. and no more botanical garden. because its dinner time!
siping actually booked Café Iguana for dinner already and wenting was there early, with the cake; while dear yongbing held 2 "happy 21" colorful balloons waiting for siying and me at the train station for a surprise! its was a huge pleasant surprise for siying and i when we saw yongbing holding the 2 balloons there, at the mrt station, alone!
seriously, THANKYOU yongbing and i can imagine how embarrassed you felt when you bought and brought the balloons from raffles place and held them all the way to clarke quay just for us d: you looked so so cute we don't mind letting you hold the them for the rest of the night, really.
and thankyou siping for planning our day for us; cause the night was crazy. crazy with me screaming my lungs out on the extreme bungy swing and then the reverse bungy ride! i've always wanted to try these rides but didn't really had the chance to since it costs $50 per try. but this time round, thanks to elaine, we got to take these rides for free! erm, haha, all along, i thought, bungy ride, is just another ride. like any other rollercoaster rides or so, that i thought i'd like to just take for fun since i've never taken any other more exciting rides other than rollercoaster. BUT when i'm up there, its real scary and when the swing goes, its O M G fast and the next thing i know is, my heart is in my mouth!
if i were to compare which of the extreme swing or the reverse bungy ride is more exciting and fun....actually, they're both awesome! the view of clarke quay up there (once u've overcome the state of shock from the initial release) is damn damn beautiful! and yup,
we screamed HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY TO SIYING AND ME UP THERE, and SIPING and YONGBING our november babies!
its the 4 of us and the rides. with gary and wenting taking photos and videos for us down there and accompanying us for our day (:

dang! its 12am, our birthdays ended but its christmas eve! so the party continues :D
went to the party at keying's house to celebrate christmas and boky's birthday! and, not forgetting the gift exchange thing that was super hilarious....the "recycle your gift" gift exchange thing we had there. boky getting a mini tripod in exchange; tripod?! for what! haha! and siping getting a stack of old CDs and DVDs (that gary don't want) and me getting a whole box of green candles from ruikai T_T i don't want those candles! i'd rather get the Hamtaro Spinning Ferris Wheel gary got from yizhen! hahaha all in all the stuff that we all brought there to exchange are crap! except the part where edmund got a digital camera from tzemin! we were all beaming with envy! a DIGITAL CAMERA among those junky gifts is like a hidden gem!! heehee, gift exchange was fun and getting together with my favourite girls is :D
the way we plan our days....to watch midnight movie after the christmas party....and that its sherlock holmes; is crazy too as the movie is so so great with a lot of cool details in it but, are we tired or are they talking too fast in the show? i think i need to watch it a second time to understand the full story.

yeah so thats what i've been busy with that i haven't posted anything onto here over the whole of december. its 13days of taipei and then birthdays and christmas celebrations this festive season!
and i spent boxing day packing my room and opening up presents (:

MAKE ME THIS FOR MY BIRTHDAY (:

The six individually baked layers match my insanity huh (in a good way!!!), cause i love rainbows.
And it's got lemon flavored icing on it! LEMON~

ok i found this online where this friend baked this cake for her best friend's birthday where the most important aspect of this cake is that because the smooth white exterior (frosted in white buttercream) makes the cake look completely normal, but, once you slice into it you'll realize OH SNAP! THIS CAKE IS CRAZY!

Super Epic Rainbow Cake

and here's her recipe she included:

"I'm adding a disclaimer here: THERE IS A LOT OF FROSTING IN THIS CAKE. I think it's too much, personally, but I used a lot because I wanted the cake to be very striking visually. It is intentional."

I. White Cake

2 sticks butter, room temp
2 1/3 c sugar
5 egg whites, room temp
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 c flour
4 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 1/2 c milk, warmed for 30 sec in microwave to bring to room temp
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple food coloring

Preheat the oven to 350F degrees. Oil and line how ever many 9” cake pans you have (I have three and I just reused them).

Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

Cream the sugar and butter, then add the egg whites (all into one bowl) and add them a little at a time. Add the vanilla and mix until fully incorporated. Then, alternating between wet and dry, add the milk and flour mixture in two parts.

Divide the batter amongst 6 bowls (Did it by weight. Weigh your mixing bowl before you begin adding ingredients and then subtract the weight of the bowl from the final measurement after the batter is completed. Divide that number by six and add that weight of batter to each bowl), and then whisk a fair amount of the appropriate food color into each bowl. Pour into the pans and bake for 15 minutes each.

When you remove them from the oven, let them rest on the cooling rack, in the pan, for ten minutes. Then flip, cover, and stash them in the fridge to cool quickly.

II. Lemony Swiss Meringue Buttercream

(HUGE bowl needed to make this much buttercream at one time!)

To fill and crumb coat:
9 egg whites
1 ¾ c sugar
4 sticks of butter, room temp
2 tsp lemon extract

To frost:
5 egg whites
1 c sugar
2 sticks butter, room temp
1 tsp lemon extract

Cook the egg whites and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved (test by rubbing some between your fingers. If it's completely smooth, it's done). Pour into another bowl (a stand mixer is preferable) and whip on high speed until room temp. Then, on a medium-slow speed, add the butter, waiting until each piece is completely incorporated before adding the next. After all the butter has been added, turn the mixer back to high speed and whip until it has come together, about five minutes. Add the extract, beat briefly and then use.

....maybe i'll beg keying to let me go her house and use her oven one fine day so i can try to make this cake :D AWESOME!

I was really planning to play basketball two fridays ago and then celebrate ruikai's birthday altogether....but it rained T_T so we went to keying/zim's house instead and AHH i love their house! everythings nice and new heehee, and those yellow lightings (: make the place feels soo soo cosy. though i don't play ps games/guitat hero cause i suck at it and i don't enjoy it, i like watching them play and just 'nua' one corner :D
(ok im controlling myself not to fall asleep when the place is so so comfy to just Zzzz in)

SANDY'S BEACH PARTIE

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY TO SANDY! yours was a great party with great food and wow- a free bungalow for us to stay overnight :D


us guests invited were supposed to be dressed for a beach party theme since it goes with dear sandy's name. but john obviously turned up in the wrong dress code so he was punished: to pose for photos of him wearing the hawaiian skirt and holding those pineapples!


and there's this pretty scrapbook for us to leave messages for sandy! The page for us to write on actually has this sentence on it: "The Mayflower people, my close to a decade friends, and still continuing...." haha WOW! we're friends for so super long already? one more year and it'll be 10. We've already hooked fingers to go for an overseas trip altogether to celebrate this 10yrs of friendship. (thou for me its only 8years since i knew the bunch of them in sec3 instead of from sec1) But then again, i'm damn excited at the thought of us flying off for a holiday tog! Can't wait for that day to come(:

Inter-Faculty Games

felt like ages since i last updated this space here! haha. was busy with schoolwork and reports :(
but anyway, IFG was over for a month alrdy i think....was quite tiring to have to go back school every sat at 8 or 9am to help out at those events consecutively for 5weeks! though i did nothing much other than being timer....

AILING'S 21ST BIRTHDAY

That was ailing and her boyfriend taking the candles out using their tongues. Haha its your 21st so you have to do 'something'; and the motherly huiwen cutting the cake- the yummy chocolatey cake!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR AILING! You're still as cute as before and i won't forget the happy and funny times we spent together during our secondary school days(: times with you are mostly spent laughing because you always like to give funny comments and imagine those weird stuff that would never happen. And WOW its been 8years and you're 21 now :B Ohh one thing i have to mention: that the 'you' and 'me' back in sec1 days would never want to wear dress out, not even a skirt! But now that we're grown ups, all of us basketball girls wore dresses to your party! What a coincidence!

Thanks for those really nice food at your party, plus all these sushi and a whole tray of eclair! They're really really nice! Haha siping and i keep kop-ing those chilled eclairs because they really taste super nice; i felt guilty for eating other people's share so i stopped eating after a while. But guess what siping did:

She hid the last 2 eclairs beneathe those flowers so no one can see it. HAHA Don't Do That!

LAIHOCK'S DIASTROUS 21ST

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAI HOCK!! That was us aiming our 'party poppers' at laihock after singing him his birthday song! We're already positioned to do that that his birthday wish is that we will not bully him by popping all the crackers at him, and that no one will blow off his birthday cake candles. But of course we didn't grant him his wish. That was his karma accumulation because, every year, he'll blow off our candles during our birthday celebrations.

Bet you had a great time with us that night HAHA; just that you got drunk too early and had to vomit about 10 times throughout the long night. Poor thing that john, szekai and us, the bad company kept making you drink when you're already so dead; but its our pay back time ok! For all the lame jokes you cracked on us over these 8years. But still, i wish you can be as lame as before, to give really random remarks everytime we're out that i'll laugh till my cheeks feel sore. ps: you puked all over the toilet that i had to go out to downtown east to find toilet.

szekai and john washed it up after hock vomitted twice so we can use the toilet but AHH, laihock went it to vomit again before we....yuck, but this is the unglam you that everyones fighting to snap a shot of when you're down and 'unconscious' So now you know who are your best friends?
